Information about the release of XLeratorDB/statistics version 1.06
We are pleased to announce the availability of XLeratorDB/statistics version 1.06, which contains 30 new statistical functions that you can add to SQL Server and which can’t be found in EXCEL. We benchmarked these functions against the R programming language and, like all XLeratorDB functions, they can be used in a variety of T-SQL statements, inside stored procedures, embedded in your own functions, in VIEWS; in any place where user-defined functions are permitted.
These function are analogous to the functions found in many statistical packages like R, MATLAB, SPSS, SAS, Mathematica, etc. In fact, it seems kind of odd that they are not in EXCEL (not even in Excel 2010). It seemed sensible to us that if you store data in your SQL Server data base then it would be far easier to use the functions where the data resides rather than invoking another package and connecting to the database (and possible running over the network and slowing things down).
These functions are available to all existing XLeratorDB/statistics users for free. Simply login to your account and download the latest version. Please make sure that you uninstall the old version before installing the new version. Of course, even though we have added all the new functionality, the price remains the same and is a huge bargain compared to some of these other packages (though we have to confess that R is free). These new functions are also available in XLeratorDB/Developer and XleratorDB/Express.
Here is a list of the functions with a brief description and the equivalent function name in R. For more information about the function, just go to the documentation section on the site.
